Metro Manila — No online voters’ registration will be regulated despite the pandemic. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will not accommodate any online registration for voters despite of the Covid19 issue worldwide due to the need of getting data specially biometrics when they resume registration on September 1.

Comelec official spokesman James Jimenez told to the public that before going to their Comelec office, they need to download the voters’ registration form from the Comelec website and bring it to start the process of registration.

Jimenez said with CNN Philippines on Wednesday,"Ramdam po namin ang panawagan ng publiko na ‘yan. Unfortunately, especially for first time voters, ay kailangan po kasi natin ang biometrics nila,"

Spokesman James Jimenez reminds everyone that the registration will only run in areas under modified general enhanced community quarantine (MGECQ) or general community quarantine (GCQ), and strict health protocols will be observed including the wearing of face masks and face shields.

The Comelec will accept first-timers (voters), transfers, and reactivations, Jimenez added. The Office of the Election Officer advised all registrants to come on Tuesday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
