After so many speculations and issues arise before and during the US 2020 Presidential elections, Joseph Biden wins the seat at the White House after hitting the 270 electoral votes on Sunday, November 8, 2020 (PST Time).

According to the Associated Press, Joe Biden captured a 290 electoral votes when the total votes at Pennsylvania and Nevada in his favour.

The 46th US President, Biden will create a new record in history as the oldest president to take office. He will turn 78 years old on November 20, where the oldest former US President Ronald Reagan at 77 left the White House in 1989.

Biden was a former vice president of ex-US President Barack Obama, he broked the record for receiving the most of votes against to other candidates with more than 70 million. He overturned re-electionist and business tycoon Mr. Donald Trump, who obtained 214 electoral votes based on the updated presidential election results powered by Associated Press.

Aside from that, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, his running mate California Senator Kamala Harris who win as the US vice president, in the American politics history, she is the first female, first Black American and the first South Asian American elected vice president in U.S. history.

The both winners, Biden and Harris will take oath on inauguration day, that will be on January 20, 2021.

How Joe Biden's victory will affect Filipinos?

According to the Philippines' ambassador to the United States, Jose Manuel Romualdez already expected that there maybe a change in foreign policy and on the economic situation under the Biden administration.

The Biden's victory is a new leadership with a new style of administration in the United States of America, everyone expecting that and it might a sign of a change in terms of the international relationship in the Southeast Asian countries, specially in the Philippines.

As Biden’s senior advisor Anthony Blinken has earlier said, “President Biden will show up and engage ASEAN on critical issues."

And for the trade industry, most people expecting that Biden will push to continue the US' pullout of American industries in China.
