ANNOUNCEMENT! The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) changed the deadline date of the exchanging old peso banknotes for the new and currently circulating new generation currency (NGC) series because of the public demand.

In the statement released by BSP, its stated that, "In response to numerous requests from the general public to allow the exchange and replacement of their New Design Series (NDS) banknotes, the Monetary Board established a new deadline of 29 December 2017 for this purpose,"

It also said that, "The BSP shall allow the exchange of demonetized NDS banknotes in cash to a maximum amount of P100,000.00 per transaction,"

"NDS exchange for larger amounts may be allowed but payable only by check or direct credit to a bank account," it added.

But this time, you need to give some extra efforts to go at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Cash Department, regional offices, and branches.

And remember again! you can only exchange your old money worth P100,000.00 per transaction.

BSP extended the deadline for exchanging NDS banknotes a number of times. The New Denomination Series was launched in 1985.

Originally, the deadline was supposed to be on December 31, 2016, but was extended to March 31, 2017. And another resets was made only this June 30, 2017, due to the "public clamor".

And now! it was extended until December 29 this year.

According to the news, "BSP also moved the actual demonetization of NDS banknotes to April 1, 2017, from January 1, 2017, when the NDS peso bills may no longer be used to pay for goods and services".

So if you still have your old peso banknotes, better be scheduled your visit to any of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas regional offices, and branches.
