The 16th president of the Philippines wants to remove the 'party-list' system. President Rodrigo Duterte promises that the new Constitution will be responsive to the will of the Filipino people.

Duterte to remove 'party-list' in the new Constitution

President Duterte said, "It will never come again," after visiting the wounded militiamen in an ambush by communist rebels in Kapalong, Davao del Norte province, on Wednesday.

"With a new Constitution, I will insist: no party-list," Duterte said.

According to the President, the party-lists 'abused' the system, with the rich organizing groups of their own.

He said, "Representing what, security guards?" then he continues, "That’s a mockery of the law."

He makes sure that the new Constitution will be good for all Filipino.

Duterte boldly said, "I will not allow a Constitution that is anti-Filipino."

According to the President Duterte and his administration, they choose the constituent assembly (Con-ass) because a constitutional convention (Con-con) would be costly to amend the 1987 Constitution.

President Duterte said, "I will be there," then he added, "When worse comes to worst, they (the lawmakers) know what will happen."
