The much-awaited historical event of the Philippines this year is yet to come. President-elect Rodrigo Duterte inauguration ceremony will be held inside the Rizal Ceremonial Hall in Malacañang Palace on June 30, 2016.

Expect 'simple and meaningful' from Duterte's inauguration

Rodrigo Roa Duterte become the 16th president of the Philippines after he bested out the five other presidential candidates on May 9 elections. He gathered a total of 12.6 million votes as an official results last May polls.

According to the incoming presidential communications office secretary Martin Andanar along with incoming presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, Duterte wants a 'simple and meaningful' inauguration ceremony.

Andanar explained, "The program will start at 10:30 in the morning, the president should be there by 10:30 in the morning. The outgoing president should be the one welcoming the president, and inside the reception hall, the outgoing president should be giving the incoming president the guest book where the incoming president will sign and then afterwards both of them will step out of the Palace and will give the departure honors for the outgoing president."

As the tradition and specified in the Constitution, President-elect Rodrigo Duterte is expected to take his oath at exactly 12 noon of Thursday, June 30.

Then after Duterte's oath-taking, there will be a 'diplomatic reception' where the president will have a simple meeting with members of the diplomatic corps.

Andanar said, "After the inauguration, he will administer the mass oath-taking of the Cabinet members and after the mass oath-taking, he will be meeting the members of the diplomatic corps to be assisted by the Department of Foreign Affairs."

And on that time, the simple inauguration menu will be serve. Duterte wants a fingerfood only, it could be a maruya and buko juice.

"Because the president is a simple man. Just chit-chat, I suppose, getting to know each other. Don't expect any champagne popping, don't expect any caviar, cheese, blue cheese. Expect durian," incoming PCO secretary said.

The performers during the said ceremony are the singers Freddie Aguilar and Jimmy Bondoc, not unless the program changes in the next couple of days.

Then the earlier report of the 500 guests, it jumped to 627 inside the Rizal Hall, as confirmed by Andanar.

On the other hand, incoming presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella was asked if Duterte and Vice President-elect Leni Robredo will meet after the inauguration?

He said, "There may be future developments. We are not entirely sure, huwag nating pangunahan."

We all know that Duterte and Vice President-elect Leni Robredo will be having a separate inaugurations on June 30, 2016.
