The high-profile lawyer and incoming presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo announced that President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will not apologize on his 'misinterpreted' media killing statements. Atty. Panelo told GMA News Online on Thursday, June 2, 2016.

Atty. Panelo: Duterte won’t apologize on media killing remarks, 'He has done nothing wrong'

Atty. Panelo said to GMA reporters via phone interview, "He has done nothing wrong."

According to Duterte's spokesperson, he was just restorying an incident and not generalizing that all journalists who were killed engaged in corrupt activities.

"Mali siguro ang dating," Atty. Panelo said.

Citing the ambush interview with reporters in Davao City on Wednesday afternoon, the incoming presidential spokesperson proved that Duterte was against all illegal killings.

Panelo said, "He is against all illegal killings. He will pursue the criminals to the ends of the earth in accordance with the law, in accordance with the Constitution."

But the controversial remarks of incoming president Rodrigo Duterte trigger the local and international press groups to condemned Duterte from what he said about media killings.

Duterte said, "Just because you are a journalist, you are not exempted from assassination if you are a son of a bitch,"

"Freedom of expression won't save you. The Constitution cannot help you kapag binaboy mo ang isang tao," he added.
