Beijing, China - The recently hit southwest China's Yunnan province by a strong earthquake leaves 1 dead and more than 300 people injured as well as 50,000 displaced, according to the state news agency.

6.6 Magnitude Earthquake hit China on Tuesday, October 7

China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported that the 6.6 magnitude quake was hit late Tuesday, October 7, in a region that lies close to China's borders with Myanmar and Laos.

The county's publicity department officials said that more than 92,000 people in Jinggu were affected and that 56,880 of them had been relocated.

According to Xinhua news agency, there are 324 people were injured, mainly in Jinggu County, close to the epicenter of the quake.

The agency added that the provincial officers declared a top-level emergency, with 3,200 troops dispatched in a "race to save more lives."

Thousands of homes are damaged, cracked walls and fallen roof tiles, and crowds of people gathered outside into the night, as photos showed on social media site.

In addition to this, a 6.5-magnitude quake hit Ludian, Yunnan, killing more than 600 people on August 3.
