The State Weather Bureau reported this morning that the Tropical Storm Luis has maintained its strength as it move towards to East of Virac, Catanduanes. PAGASA forecast Bagyong Luis move West Northwest at 17 kph, as of 5 AM issued advisory.

Bagyong Luis Threatens Luzon Area (September 13)


Bagyong Luis was estimated at 500 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (13.7°N, 129.2°E) based on all available data of PAGASA.

As it threatens the Luzon area, PAGASA alerted all residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #1 against possible flashfloods and landslides. And advised all fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture out into the Eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The maximum sustained winds of Bagyong Luis was forecast of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

By tomorrow morning, Bagyong Luis is expected to be at 250 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes and by Monday morning, it will be at 90 km Southeast of Tuguegarao City.

The next PAGASA weather bulletin will be issued next at 11 AM today.
