Typhoon Odette has intensified and is now in the area of the Batanes Group of Islands. Odette is moving West Northwest at 19 kph, state weather bureau PAGASA reported as of September 21, 2013.

At 4am Thursday, September 21, 2013, ODETTE was spotted at 30 km East of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 215 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 250 kph.

PAGASA place public storm warning signal  no. 4 in the Batanes Group of Islands, while signal no. 3 in the areas of Calayan Group of Islands and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Cagayan, Apayao,  and Ilocos Norte are in public storm warning signal no. 2 and the following areas are in signal no. 1, such as, Abra, Kalinga, Isabela, Northern Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mt. Province, and Ifugao.

PAGASA also said that "ODETTE" will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) that will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the western sections of Southern Luzon.

PAGASA advised the residents in these areas to be alert against flashfloods and landslides.
