State weather bureau of the Philippines said that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 480 km East of Northern Mindanao based on satellite and surface data. It may make landfall in Northern Mindanao on Christmas Day

PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said in an interview on dzBB radio, "Bukas ng hapon ito inaasahang mag-landfall sa northern part ng Northern Mindanao."

But Quitlong explained, by Monday evening, the LPA may already begin make rain to parts of Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao.

He said, "CARAGA, Eastern Visayas and Bicol regions will be cloudy with occasional moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flash floods and landslides."

Meanwhile, PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
