Philippine weather expert said that the most area of Samar on Sunday was still under Storm Warning Signal No. 1. and as of 6:00 a.m, the center of Tropical Storm "LAWIN" was estimated at 490 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar, based on satellite and surface data.

PAGASA weather bulletin as of 4:00 a.m. today, "Tropical Storm "LAWIN" (JELAWAT) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 485 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.1°N, 129.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is forecast to move north slowly."

PAGASA Forecaster Chris Perez said on radio dzBB, "Nasa Philippine Sea pa rin ito, hindi pa tumatama sa ating bansa."

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to big waves generated by Lawin.
