Weather bureau of the Philippine stated that typhoon Lawin is continues to gain strength as it moves closer to the Cagayan Valley Area. Based on satellite and surface data, Bagyong Lawin was located East of Baler, Aurora, as of 5:00 a.m advisory.

PAGASA weather bulletin posted as of 4:00 a.m, "At 4:00 a.m. today, Typhoon "LAWIN" was located based on satellite and surface data at 585 km East of Baler, Aurora (15.5°N, 127.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 11 kph."

And according to the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center as of 9 a.m. advisory update, Bagyong Lawin classified as a super typhoon.

PAGASA said, "by Wednesday morning, Lawin is expected to be 530 km east of Tuguegarao City, and by Thursday morning, it is expected to be 430 km east of Calayan Island.

Meanwhile, "Fishing boats and small seacraft were advised not to venture out into the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao due to big waves generated by Lawin," PAGASA said.
