Bagyong Helen Latest Update August 15, 2012

Philippine weather expert said, "the center of Bagyong "HELEN" was estimated at 45 km Southeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan." Tropical Storm "HELEN" has made landfall over Isabela and is now traversing Northern Luzon, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA forecaster Bernie de Leon said on dzBB radio, "Sa mga nakalipas na oras halos stationary siya sa Palanan sa Isabela area. Nagkaroon siya ng interaction sa bundok ng Sierra Madre, bumagal siya in the past few hours pero sa susunod na oras inaasahan natin kikilos ito at 17 kph west-northwest at babagtasin niya ang northern Luzon."

PAGASA said, "Helen will bring rainfall of 20 to 35 mm per hour (intense to torrential) within its 500-km diameter."

PAGASA raised signal no. 2 to the following areas:

Calayan Group of Islands
Babuyan Group of Islands
Northern Aurora
Nueva Vizcaya
Mt. Province
Ilocos Sur
Ilocos Norte
Batanes Group of Islands

And signal no. 1 to the following areas:

Nueva Ecija
La Union
Rest of Aurora

Meanwhile, PAGASA said, fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas due to Tropical Storm "Helen" and the Southwest Monsoon.
