Panic and fear that cause stampede was all around Metropoint Mall in Pasay this Thursday afternoon, after a robbery holdup group made a gun shot inside the mall. The good thing is no one was hurt through the gun shot, except for the people who were injured due to the stampede.

LRTA spokesman, Atty. Hernando Cabrera said that MRT Taft station was temporarily closed for the safety and security of all passengers, but they resumed the operations right after a few minutes.

While according to Pasay police that the Tambunting Pawnshop branch inside the Metropoint Malls in third floor, the group, “Martilyo Gang” robbed it at around 3:25 p.m. this Thursday, August 16, 2012.

Pasay City police chief Sr. Supt. Melchor Reyes said, “Yung tatlong mama na galing [sa mall], nagpalit ng damit.”

Authorities are now investigating the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the said incident.

On behalf of Ayala Land, who managed Metropoint said in a statement,  "On or about 3:25pm today, four unidentified suspects attempted to rob a pawnshop at the third floor of Metropoint Mall in Pasay City. The Pasay PNP immediately responded and have locked down the mall and are now conducting clearing operations."

The management added, "We are fully cooperating with the police authorities and our security officers are closely coordinating with them for the resolution of this incident."
