Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said, "Active Low Pressure Area (ALPA) is now a Tropical Depression 'GENER' and estimated at East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, today at 12:00 p.m advisory."
PAGASA said Bagyong Gener packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is moving north-northwest at 15 kph.
PAGASA added, this coming Sunday morning, Bagyong Gener is expected to be 310 km east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.
PAGASA advised residents in low-lying and mountainous areas in Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao should be alert for possible flash floods and landslides. Although, PAGASA has no public storm warning signals have been raised.
Meanwhile, fishing boats and other vessels are likewise urged to not venture out into the seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to the combined effect of Tropical Depression Gener and the Southwest Monsoon.
