The much-anticipated opening ceremony of London Olympics is set to start the three-hour opening extravaganza and expected to be watched by global television audiences. London 2012 Olympic Games is scheduled to start today, 27 July (the opening day ceremony) until 12 August 2012.
In this 17 days event we will witness athletes that will mark as heroes in every people around the world. Representatives will give they're best to reach their dreams and give they're nations pride.
London 2012 Olympic opening day will be held at 80,000-seater Olympic Stadium in Stratford.
According to Prime Minister David Cameron, Britain would deliver a memorable Games to the world.
He said, "We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world."
And in order to protect the venues, athletes and millions of visitors, British officials turned the capital into a fortress with a force of more than 40,000 military and civilian personnel and backed by a huge intelligence operation.
Ten times Olympic medalist Carl Lewis said, "The Olympics is the only event where the world stops."
He added, "If you're the smallest country with the fewest people in the world or the biggest country with the most people in the world, everyone's allowed and everyone is invited, so it's a great thing because you get to see the world and the world sees you."
