Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said, "Typhoon (Bagyong) "GENER" has maintained its strength as it continues to move north northwest. " At 6:00 a.m. advisory today, "GENER" was estimated at East Northeast of Basco, Batanes.
PAGASA weather bulletin posted on its site, "At 4:00 a.m. today, Typhoon "GENER" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 180 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes (21.1°N, 123.7°E). Maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 7 kph. "

PAGASA raised public storm warning signal no. 3 in Batanes Group of Islands, then public storm warning signal no. 2 in Cagayan, Calayan Group of Islands,
Babuyan Group of Islands and signal no. 1 in Isabela, Kalinga Apayao.
Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 20 mm per hour (heavy - intense) within the 700 km diameter of the Typhoon, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, Classes in public and private schools in several areas outside Metro Manila are suspended Tuesday, July 31, 2012. You can view here the list of schools and areas announced class suspension.
