"Tropical Storm 'GENER' has intensified slightly as it continues to move closer to Extreme Northern Luzon," weather expert said on Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), issued at: 5:00 a.m Today, July 29, 2012.

PAGASA posted on its site, "At 4:00 am today, Tropical Storm "GENER"was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 310 km East of Casiguran, Aurora (16.6°N, 125.5°E). Maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. Forecast to move North Northwest at 15 kph. "

PAGASA raised public warning storm signal no. 1 to the following areas: Isabela, Kalinga Apayao, Batanes Group of Island. While storm signal no. 2 to the following areas: Cagayan, Calayan Group of Island, Babuyan Group of Island.

PAGASA advised residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides Likewise, those living in coastal areas under Public Storm Warning Signal #2 are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

PAGASA said, "Fishing boats and other small sea crafts are advised not to venture out into the Seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to the combined effect of tropical depression 'Gener' and the southwest monsoon."
