The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said, "The first storm of the year may be formed within the next 24 to 48 hours in the northern part of Mindanao."

PAGASA 11 a.m. weather bulletin posted, "the active Low Pressure Area (ALPA), spotted 330 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar and embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), is expected to develop into a tropical storm within the next 24 to 48 hours."

When ALPA strengthens into a storm, it will be called “Ambo”.

Meanwhile, PAGASA reported that the weather will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains over Visayas and northeastern Mindanao.
