Aquilino Pimentel Jr. is one of the founders of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's political party. The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan which more commonly known as PDP-Laban is now the top party in the country.
He said to the reporters, "Palagay ko lang mas maganda kung saang teritoryo kung saan minamahal siya ng tao, doon sa bandang IIocos.… where he will get all the honors that they want because obviously he was loved there by some people."
"They will give the honors to him," Pimentel added.
The PDP-Laban founder also said that the Marcos family should no longer insist on giving their father a hero’s burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
He said, "Sana naman ang pamilya ni President Marcos wil not insist on giving him a hero’s burial sapagkat ang Martial Law, when his father was the one running the country under authoritarian dictatorship, andami pong napinsalang mga tao, andaming natorture, andaming namatay."
"So medyo masalimuot na issue na ilibing siya d’yan sa Libingan ng mga Bayani," he added.
But he also mentioned that he doesn't want to hinder the decision of the president-elect Rodrigo Duterte. However, he suggest to replace the name of the cemetery into 'ibingan ng mga Sundalo.'
Pimentel said, "Pero kung ‘yun ang desisyon ni President Digong then let it be. But perhaps, probably ulitin ko baguhin ang pangalan sa Libingan ng mga Sundalo na lang para he will qualify as a soldier to be buried there."
Former senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. is one of those political detainee under the Marcos regime. He was one of those arrested and jailed during the Martial Law.
