Today, May 9, is the much-awaited day of all Filipino registered voters to cast their ultimate trust to the candidates that can build for them a better life and children's future.

This is also a day where some desperate people will influence voters, threaten them, buy their votes or even cheat. So be careful and don't waste your vote.

According to Commission on Elections (Comelec), there will be 18,000 vacant seat to be filled in the Government this 2016 polls, included the highest post for president and vice president.

To this important day, all Filipinos, voters and non-voters are now watching for the official results and to the list of candidates who have successfully declared as 'winners.'

  • Some of the voters in Caloocan noticed that the 'indelible ink' was easily to remove.
  • A massive vote buying in different areas in Manila, particularly the slum-infested Baseco compound.
  • The 'counting will start after the voting time (6am - 5pm)
  • Each voters only has 3-minutes of allowable time to vote for their candidates
  • Most of the schools in Metro Manila has no COMELEC representatives
  • Voters in Padre Burgos Elem. Schools noticed the name of her deceased neighborhood in the list of names.
  • Malfunctioning VCM at Robredo's precinct replaced with new one
  • Unofficial count of votes from 92,509 vote-counting machines (VCMs) in 369,138 precincts are electronically transmitted to the board of canvassers (COMELEC central server)
  • COMELEC to extend voting period in some areas where VCM caused delay
    • GMA News has received reports of VCM glitches in Isabela City, Romblon, Negros Oriental, Tacloban City, Roxas City, Capiz and Masbate.
    • In Metro Manila, areas with reported VCM glitches include the Padre Burgos Elementary School in Manila, Rizal High School in Pasig City, San Juan City, Quezon City and Caloocan City.
  • In Tacloban City reported that the BEI are not following the proper voting process. BEI did not fold voter's receipt.
  • Some ballots at the Maguindanaoan Elementary School in Sultan Kudarat were found to be already shaded before the official voting time.
  • Candidate for Mayor Lester Bisnar at San Jorge in Samar province sustained a gunshot wound on the foot.
  • Davao City Police has doubled its security at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina District where Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is set to vote
    • Mayor Duterte arrived at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Davao City past 3:00 pm, two hours before precincts were scheduled to close at 5:00 pm
    • Rodrigo Duterte is the last presidential bet to cast his vote
  • COMELEC spokesperson James Jimenez said that the ballots with a pink line code were “clearly photoshopped.”
  • Police Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, Davao City Police said, "Davao City is peaceful and normal as of this time,"
  • The Commission on Elections had to replace up to 150 vote counting machines (VCMs) as of 2 p.m. on election day, May 9.
    • In Central Luzon, a total of 28 VCMs malfunctioned in various parts of Central Luzon on election day, according to Chief Superintendent Rudy Lacadin, director of Police Regional Office 3 in Pampanga.
  • Presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte cast his vote in Brgy. Matina Crossing in Davao City.
  • COMELEC Poll chief Andres Bautista checks reports vote counting machines at a hotel located at the Araneta Complex, Cubao
    • Andres Bautista personally went to Novotel to conduct an inspection with his team. Several floors of the hotel have so far been inspected but no VCMs were seen.
  • At least 10 people died across the Philippines in election day violence on Monday, May 9
    • Police said, "gunmen attacked polling stations, ambushed vehicles and stole vote-counting machines"
  • According to PPCRV, technical problems disrupted elections at some polling precincts in:

    • Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat
      Panaon, Misamis Occidental
      Palo, MacArthur, San Miguel and Tacloban towns in Leyte
      West City Elementary School in Dumaguete
      Negros Oriental State University
      Bohol
      Marinduque
      Antique
      Infanta, Quezon
      Aurora
      Pasig
      Dagupan, Pangasinan
      Madaluyong
      Silang, Cavite
      Bataan
    • Because of this issues, Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista announced that polls will close at 6 p.m.
  • Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr claimed early leads in the presidential and vice presidential races

  • Senator and vice presidential candidate Antonio Trillanes IV acknowledged the outcome of the 2016 polls wherein presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte is poised to be officially proclaimed as the victor.
  • Rodrigo Duterte will pursue a "major rewriting" of the three-decade-old Constitution to shift to a federal-parliamentary form of government and ease foreign ownership restrictions on business
  • Mar Roxas is set to make an announcement on Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the LP Balay Headquarters in Quezon City
  • Duterte promised he would be more behaved once he takes his oath of office as the 16th president of the Philippines.
