After 16 years 'The Buzz' goes off Air

Kapamilya Talk Show 'The Buzz' is said to go on a temporary shutdown after airing for 16 consecutive years. The announcement was made by one of the host itself Mr. Boy Abunda yesterday, April 5, 2015.

After 16 years 'The Buzz' goes off Air

Abunda said that since everything keeps changing and evolving they need to look behind so to see what is needed to improve.

Boy said in his statement published on ABS-CBN News, “The world has changed and ang pamamaraan ng news reporting, and that includes showbiz news reporting, ay nabago na rin po. Ito ang dahilan kung bakit pansamantala kami ay mawawala sa ere. We want to take a few steps backward para makita namin ng mas malinaw kung sino kami, nasaan kami, kung sino kayo at kung nasaan na po kayo. Para sa aming pagbabalik ay isang malaking pagbabago ang inyong aabangan.”

Thus this decision has hurt him personally, Abunda still accepts it 'cause it's the right thing to do.

He said, “Hindi po ako magkukunwari na okay ako. Hindi po ako magkukunwari na hindi ako nasasaktan. Hindi ako magkukunwari na I am not hurting, that I am not bleeding inside because I am. It’s very painful dahil naging karelasyon po namin kayo for 16 years… we’ve been together for a long time. Pero yung decision po na mawala muna pansamantala sa ere ang ‘The Buzz’ ay isang decision na kailangan at tama.”

After that day's last show, ABS-CBN formally made their statement.

The statement says, "After more than 15 years of unparalleled credibility as Philippine television's leading showbiz-oriented talk show, 'The Buzz' takes a break after its April 5,2015 episode. The program recognizes the evolution in showbiz news reporting, and to cope with it, 'The Buzz' deems it a necessary step to reinvent to start anew. Showbiz news will never die. The showbiz talk genre remains," and added, "Since the program began, 'The Buzz' has gained the authority of being the premiere source of truthful and balanced entertainment news for the Filipino audience worldwide. As the program bids farewell for now, 'The Buzz' would like to thank its loyal viewers for the support they have given the show in its entire run. See you again soon."

But before the show ends, Abunda made a promise to make a comeback. When? there's no exact date yet but the promise is a promise.

He said, “We will come back individually or as group—hindi ko po alam. But the showbiz news talk show genre is not going to die. It’s going to continue. Yun po ang dahilan kung bakit napagkaisahan naming lahat that the best way is to stop today. And then come back strong and be the best of what we can be.”
