University of Santo Tomas officially moves class opening

The University of Santo Tomas officially declared the moving of college opening classes from June-March to July-May, starting on the year 2015.

The UST's Office of the Secretary General released the official calendar of moving classes to July-May from the traditional June-March schedule, it will become official on the next academic year, posted on the official student publication website, The Varsitarian.

There are also some university already announced the shifting of academic calendar from June-March to August-May. The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and University of the Philippines (UP) are among them.

According to ABS-CBN News, the decision of moving college opening class was due to the preparation for the integration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2015.
