Tropical Storm 'IGME' is now a Typhoon

Tropical Storm 'IGME' is now officially declared as a typhoon by PAGASA as of 4 p.m. today, August 20, 2012 as it moves northward direction to Taiwan. Typhoon Igme is currently located at 310 km East of Aparri, Cagayan containing a maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center gustiness of up to 160 kph.

Public Storm Signal number 1 is now up to the provinces of Isabela and Cagayan. According to PAGASA, Igme as it moves will be on 245 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes by Wednesday and at 285 km North Northwest of Basco, Batanes by Thursday afternoon.

Estimated rainfall amount is said to be at a range of 5 to 15 millimeters per hour within its 550-kilometer diameter.

Residents near the coastal are warned together with small sea crafts not to sail into the eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon, for according to the weather bureau that the combined effects of the typhoon and the southwest monsoon might cause rough to very rough condition around Northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the Eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and so with Southern Luzon.
