PALEA's big protest on Friday - September 30

Philippine Airlines (PAL) forced to cancel again their flights due to lack of employees to handle the work in PAL management after the PAL Employees Association (PALEA) unannounced protest lastTuesday, September 27, 2011.

PAL cancelled a total of 76 flights last Tuesday, both domestic and international flights. And recently, another 102 flights were cancelled.

MIIA general manager Jose Angel Honrado said, "We have agreed with PAL to [use] Terminal 3 as a departure point."

He added, "PAL is experiencing a lot of cancellations of flights, specifically domestic flights and I was told that they are tapping Air Philippines and other domestic airlines."

But the PAL Employees Association (PALEA) planning a big protest again on Friday, September 30. PALEA is fighting against an outsourcing program that will result in the retrenchment of 2,600 PAL employees.

PAL President Jaime Bautista said, "We have asked the authorities, the Manila International Airport Authority, the Aviation Security Command, the airport police department... to see to it that these protesting PALEA members will not be able to enter the airport premises."
