According to La Mesa Dam Headworks Manager Engr. Teddy Angeles, “The heavy downpour this morning caused significantly the 21 centimeters increase for the 1-and-a-half hours of downpour. The increase is slower at this point because the rains are quite weak. The increase is compounded by the lesser demand from the customers wherein production is lesser during the nighttime.”

He added, “The Tullahan River can still accommodate the slight overflow but we wouldn’t want to be complacent. As we all experienced with the heavy downpour this morning, it can increase dramatically.”

They advised to all residents in North Fairview, Valenzuela and Malabon should prepare to evacuate if the river water level continues to rise.

Engr. Angeles said, “If water goes above 79.60 [meters], we already recommend evacuation. But it’s the call of the barangay units, who are more accustomed to levels in their respective areas.”
