Spokesperson Lacierda Issued a statement after receiving news of the executions.

After receiving the news of the executions of 3 Filipinos in China, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda issued a statement.

In his statement, "Our government had taken every available opportunity to appeal to the authorities of China for clemency in their cases, to which the Chinese government responded with the postponement of the execution. In the end, however, the sentence was imposed," read by his deputy, Abigail Valte.

The 3 Filipinos were supposed to be executed last February 20 and February 21, but it was postponed after Vice President Binay met with Chinese officials in China.

Meanwhile, the palace spokesperson assured that the government will act strongly against the drug syndicates that have been victimizing Filipinos for the last several years.

The Government data showed that there are a total of 630 Filipinos in jail for drug trafficking in foreign countries. A total of 250 are jailed in China and 73 of them are in death row.
